Job description

About Manometric

Manometric is a ‘med-tech’ startup, specialised in improving orthoses and prosthetics with 3D Technology. We have built a proprietary 3D Hand Scanner, along with highly innovative brace designs and automation software. We work directly with hospitals and clinics, and help new patients every day.

Our mission is to transform orthoses and prosthetics from necessities to products people love to wear. We have a highly skilled and diverse team, consisting of Orthopedic Specialists, Industrial Designers and Hardware & Software Engineers.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled 3D CAD Designer / Modeller for Production work.

About your role

As a 3D Modeller in our production operations team you make sure that our innovative orthopaedic products are designed and produced perfectly. You own and are fully responsible for the design and 3D modelling of production steps in the manufacturing process of our braces - from a client’s 3D scan to a finished product. The problems that you are presented with are varied and complex. To solve them, you must think, communicate and work quickly, applying either Manometric’s defined product portfolio, or by applying human-centric design thinking to bring to life unique one-off designs. As a 3D modeller, you play a key part balancing desirability, and feasibility - mediating between client requirements with our Orthopaedic technicians, and the producibility of the final product with our internal and external manufacturing teams. You'll quickly master multiple forms of advanced 3D design, while also getting opportunities to test the latest techniques and materials for 3D Printing.

You like to take initiative to improve current products and processes, and are never happy with ‘good enough’. You are driven to model quickly, are very precise, and have an eye for detail. 3D modelling is your craft, and you take pride in how your skill set can have real impact.

The application assignment

We have learnt that traditional method of applying for such a role using a design portfolio is not always the best way to show off your skills in 3D and your qualitites as a designer. To that extent, before we start with an interview, we ask applicants to complete a short assignment. Here, you 3D model a hand brace on a provided 3D scan and document your process and the steps that you made to get there. Piece of cake! It should take about an hour of your time, and can be included in a convenient means (PDF/link to Notion etc...) along with your application. You can use any CAD program that you like - Fusin360 and Meshmixer are suggestions to get you started. Good luck!
